The 119th College Day was celebrated with great jubilation on 12th of September 2019 being the first celebration of Rev.Fr. Jayashantha Sovis assuming the office as the new Rector on 4th of September 2019.
The Chief Guest and the celebrant of the day Rev. Fr. Claude Martinus, the Parish priest of Kalutara was garlanded by the Head Prefect and welcomed by Rev.Fr. Jayashantha Sovis, our new Rector, Rev.Fr. Treesen Silva, The Vice Rector, Rev. Fr. Ranmal Sewwanda, the Priest in charge of the Advanced Level section and the Prefect of Games, Rev.Fr. Amila Vanderwall, The Priest in charge of Primary School and the members of the tutorial staff at the entrance of the auditorium and proceeded in, to participate for the Holy Mass.
The Holy Mass was invested by Rev. Fr. Claude Martinus and the community of priests. Rev. Fr. Claude Martinus enlightened the gathering on “The importence of leading a life under the shadow of the Holy Cross” during his sermon. At the end of the Mass the students and the teachers were blessed with the Holy Cross and sprinkling of Holy Water by the Rev. Fr. Rector. The community of priests of the College went to each an every classroom to bless afterwards.
The oath of loyalty of the students towards the College, Rev. Fathers, Rev. Sisters and the Teachers was taken by the Head Prefect along with the students.
There was an assembly after the Holy Mass for the students. Mr. Ravindra Mendis one of the senior members of the tutorial staff inspired the crusaders on “The value of obedience and loyalty” in his speech.
Rev. Fr. Jayashantha Sovis, the Rector thanked for all those who have helped to make the event a success.
The students proceeded to their respective classrooms after the assembly to celebrate the “College Day”, to share the foods, to sing songs and to dance. The Students were also given a cup of ice cream by the Collage to enjoy.
This year all the sections in the Advanced Level section together had a “Paduru Patiya”, under the guidance of Rev. Fr. Ranmal Sewwanda, The Priest in charge of the Advanced Level section.
The students had a glorious time of enjoyment until the close of the school.
